The Knox City Council planning scheme has no specific regulations preventing residential use for these legal purposes. For any production of alcohol, you should check current ATO requirements.

A typical starter setup includes a boiler, a still (reflux or pot, depending on your goal), a condenser, a thermometer, cleaning and sanitising products, and your chosen ingredients, whether turbo yeast, turbo sugar, essences or grain. Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Bayswater warehouse, with most orders dispatched within 1 to 2 business days. Boronia customers can also use our click & collect service.

A pot still produces a spirit with more flavour character — it’s ideal for whiskey, brandy and gin where you want the base ingredients to shine through. A reflux still uses a column and dephlegmator to produce a cleaner, higher-proof neutral spirit, which is great as a base for vodka or for infusing with essences. Less than most people expect. A basic setup can fit comfortably on a workbench in a garage, shed or covered outdoor area,  something most Boronia homes have. Good ventilation is the main practical consideration. Our team can advise on the right footprint for your chosen kit so there are no surprises when it arrives.
